Disaster Planning: A Guide to Effective Cyber Event Tabletop Exercises
Session Information
Date: Thursday, April 17, 2025
Time: 9am PT / 12pm ET
Duration: 45mins
Tabletop exercises are an essential tool in Business Resilience and Continuity (BRC) practices. In a tabletop exercise, no one passes or fails; everyone who participates learns what needs to be improved and how the improvements. BRC Plan exercises ensure that cross-functional teams are familiar with their assignments and, more importantly, are confident in their capabilities.
In this session of The Privacy & Compliance Collective, you will learn how to prepare and facilitate a successful BRC tabletop exercise, from selecting scenarios and injects to encouraging (or requiring!) participation from stakeholders, providing enough structure for cross-functional teams to work together without giving away the answers, and developing useful feedback and remediations to existing DR processes.
Key Takeaways:
1. Identify relevant and realistic scenarios to simulate potential cyber events
2. Foster collaboration, engagement, and accountability among cross-functional stakeholders
3. Feedback and remediation tips to enhance, refine, and improve disaster recovery processes
